XS Energy Drink Success Stories

XS Helps Fuel World-Class Ski Cross Racer Sven Winter

His name is perfectly suited to the rugged, fast-paced sport of Ski Cross: Sven Winter.

And as the No. 2 Ski Cross racer at the Canada National Championships—he finished third on the North American Cup tour last year as well—Winter has found another excellent fit: XS Energy Drinks.

While training to race up to speeds of 90 kilometers an hour (about 55 mph), Winter turns to XS to give him a boost that helps him compete at the highest levels of his sport.

Ski Cross is akin to “motocross on skis” as groups of four skiers jockey downhill at the same time to advance from round to round.

An IBO in Executive Diamond Dean Kosage’s organization (via Fenton Eng’s Emerald team and Cho Lim’s Platinum team), Winter first tasted XS in May 2009. It was a refreshing change from several other energy drinks he’d had before.

“I would drink those other ones only when I was exhausted and felt I had little choice but grin and bear the consequences,” recalls Winter. “With XS, I actually enjoy the experience, from the great flavors to the great effect it has on my system.”

Elaborating on that point, Winter explains how he meshes XS with his athletic endeavors: “I drink XS about 30 minutes before hitting the gym when I’m tired, and also when I leave the gym to help me recover. I also use it before a race when I haven’t had enough sleep or rest.”

Winter’s favorite flavors are Electric Lemon, Citrus Blast, Wild Berry, and Black Cherry Cola. He’s also a big XS Gold fan. His belief in XS is grounded in the tangible results that he’s gained from drinking the no-sugar, low-calorie drink that’s loaded with B vitamins.

Highly attuned to detecting the ebbs and flows of his body’s strength and conditioning, he notices added strength at the gym on those days he simply doesn’t feel like going (yes, even world-class athletes have those days).

Winter has also enjoyed increased mental focus when performing high-intensity exercise, enabling him to gain more speed.

Winter turned 22 in June 2010, which makes him seven years younger than the average Canadian Ski Cross team member.

A native of Whistler, British Columbia, Winter’s goal is to become the first Canadian male to win Ski Cross Gold at the Olympics. Though he was three places from competing in the 2010 Olympics, his youthfulness gives him opportunity to compete in multiple Olympics in the future, starting with 2014 in Russia.

Meantime, his quest will take him to international venues as he competes on the Ski Cross World Cup circuit. While it may sound exotic and glamorous—and Winter is quick to express his gratitude for the opportunity—the path he’s chosen also represents many hours of sacrifice daily.

“Winning the Olympics has been my life-long dream,” says Winter. “I will win at the Olympics and make my country proud no matter what it takes or how long it takes me. I am excited about having XS help fuel my Olympic dream.”
